Obituary
Charles Oscar “Chuck” Hanson III, was born in Moline, IL on February 28, 1944 to Charles O. Hanson, Jr. and Lois (Weston) Hanson. Chuck passed from this life on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 76.
Chuck graduated from the University of Iowa in 1967 and served on active duty in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1973 and retired as Lieutenant Colonel from JAG Corps in 1996. After active military service he was admitted to the University of Tulsa College of Law. He was awarded his Juris Doctorate and admitted to the Oklahoma bar in 1976. Chuck has been a partner at Hanson & Holmes, PLC since 1980. He retired from practicing law in 2017.
Chuck served as Treasurer of the Tulsa Title and Probate Lawyers Association for 29 years and served as a Director on many boards, including the Tulsa Title and Probate Lawyers Association and the Tulsa Downtown Lions Club. He was an active member of the Broken Arrow Evening Lions Club, as well as an MG enthusiast who not only enjoyed traveling in his MGs, but also working on them in the garage with his MG buddies. He served as President of the Green Country MGT Register since 1976 and is a founding member of the Heart of Route 66 Auto Museum. He was a 3rd degree black belt, a true martial artist at heart, who enjoyed teaching Taekwondo and women's self-defense.
Chuck was a true family man who loved his family dearly. He was a kind-hearted, generous, and all-around genuine guy who had an enormous zest for life. He was a highly respected role model for his kids and to know Chuck is to know honesty and integrity. He was such an influential, positive force in the lives of all those who were lucky enough to know him.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 43 years, Diane; stepson, Allan Stubbins and his wife Ann of Cypress, TX, daughter, Michelle Taylor and her husband Ryan of Houston, TX, and daughter, Amber Cooke and her husband Rob of Tulsa, OK; his brother, Jeff Hanson and his wife Carol of Bettendorf, IA and his sister, Pam Wilkinson and her husband Howard of Woodland Hills, CA; and his four grandchildren: Ashton Stubbins, Avery Stubbins, Audrey Cooke and Ryan Cooke.
Viewing will be held from 10 AM – 8 PM on Saturday, January 23rd and memorial service will be at 1 PM on Monday, January 25th, both at Ninde Brookside Chapel. The private memorial service will be live-streamed on the Ninde Funeral and Cremation Facebook page.

Humans don't come around better than Chuck. Known him since our days at the Downtown YMCA and the Lions Club. Always ready and eager to help when asked. Whenever we would see each other. there would always be a question from one of us,"How's your Diane". Our sympathies flow to Diane and the family. He was a treasure that will surely be missed.

I first meet Chuck in The Tulsa Downtown Lions Club. He was such a great person to spend time with. We fall away sometimes in seeing people in daily life but I know anytime we would run into each other we could always have a nice discussion about our lives. My condolences to Diane and family. Chuck was truly a gem in this world. You will be missed by many my friend.

I first met Chuck in the mid-80's when I took a course he was teaching at Tulsa Community College on Trusts, Probate and Estate Planning. I enjoyed his class tremendously and when I needed some legal help a couple of years later, I knew he was the attorney I wanted to help me. I have been in the banking industry in Tulsa for many years and I referred many customers to him for Trusts and Probate help. I always appreciated his knowledge, integrity, the ability to put people at ease and his sense of humor. He was an excellent attorney, who helped me with other legal issues over the years, and I also considered him a friend. I feel blessed to have know him and we (all of his family, colleagues and friends) have lost a really great guy! My prayers will be with Chuck's family that God will gently guide them through this sad, difficult time, and that the good memories they have of Chuck will bring them some comfort and peace. I am so sorry for the loss of this amazing man. My heart goes out to his family and many friends. I helped found a non-profit that benefits veterans. Someone donated some of these water filter straws to the foundation, and since Mr. Hanson is a decorated vet I donated one to him and he was proud to take a picture with it next to his USAF sticker. It was great to be able to for once hand a donated item to a veteran and see the smile on his face. One of many memories I will cherish of this humble, wonderful, kind man.

This world is a little less fortunate to have lost such a wonderful person. Chuck was a kind gentle presence that made you smile when he entered a room. He loved to tell jokes and make others laugh. He made you feel included and worthy. I loved the way he glowed when he spoke of Diane and his love for her, which he often did. He will be greatly missed by me and I'm sure by any one who had the pleasure of meeting him. His family is in my prayers.

I've known Chuck since law school and I fondly remember the night we shared a room (to cut costs) before the Bar exam and he kept waking me up by shouting Latin phrases in his sleep. Chuck was a joy to study with during law school and he went on to become a truly outstanding attorney with a spotless career.
