Charles Clinton Smith, Jr., D.O.

I’m so sorry this is late, I just learned of Dr Smith’s passing, Dr Smith was not only my Dr but also a very kind and caring soul. There will never be another Dr that can feel his shoes. RIP

I am a cousin of Clinton’s on his fathers side. My mother was the sister of Charles and I remember going to visit the family in Pawhuska when we were children and again in Batesville. Clinton would sometimes spend the weekend with us in Oklahoma City while he was attending OU. He would have to sleep in his car because he was so allergic to cats and cats were our pets. The Smiths tended to be allergic people and that characteristic has carried down to many family members. My mother was a highly allergic person who carried around a syringe of epinephrine as a young girl/woman until Benadryl became available. I remember Clinton as a very serious, quiet person and very smart but not with much common sense. He occasionally showed a sense of humor and humor was sparse among the Smiths but hopefully my memory is not accurate. I’m sure the family misses him. He had a genuine quiet spirit which I’m sure all those who knew him felt and a brilliant heart warming smile which I’m reminded of when viewing some of the photos Katherine downloaded. I wish the family all the best and they have a history of which they can be very proud.

Went to Medical School with Clinton and remember thinking I was in presence of someone that had already obtained a Doctorate!!!! Always a man of grace and dignity. God bless.

My apology for being so late in sending a note. I was a classmate of Clint in Pawhuska. I always remember my traveling with him and family to Carlsbad Cavern when we were in elementary school (Franklin). He was always very curious about what we saw and in his quite way was a good friend. I can, by reading his obituary, appreciate his commitment to serving those who otherwise might not receive adequate care. I have retired, as of 2013, as a Presbyterian Ministers with an ecumenical campus ministry at University of Kansas. Marla - you and your family are on my heart and in my thoughts during this sad time. Know that you are cared for and loved very much.

To Marla and each of Clint's family members. God called a great servant when he chose Clint to join him in his heavenly home. You will miss him daily but draw strength from each other and those around you that loved Clint. He was certainly a gentleman and a gentle soul. Rest, Clint, in your eternal home.

I share my soul-felt admiration for Dr. Smith. His time with us has made our society a better place.

My heart aches for you and your family. It was such a pleasure to have known Clint and shared some holiday meals.
