Obituary
Carl Hunt “Bud” Phillips, Jr. was born on September 30, 1946 in Cushing, OK to Carl H. Phillips and Norma (Ramsey) Phillips. Bud passed from this life, at the age of 68, on Friday, November 7, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.
After high school, Bud entered the U.S. Air Force and did his duty in Viet Nam. After his honorable discharge and receiving two Presidential Citations Bud attained his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and later became a counselor for 12 & 12 in Tulsa.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon of the home; his sons and daughters-in-law, John and Michelle Phillips and Daniel and Heather Phillips, all of Newalla, OK; a brother, John David Phillips of Australia; his former wife, Kathleen Phillips of Newalla, OK and seven grandchildren.

I met Carl at the promenade mall where I work,he sat down nearby and I started chatting with him.It was fair to say that i liked him right away,sometimes we encounter people that we never forget and Carl was definitely one of those people.I liked how he said things as they were and thoroughly enjoyed his sense of humor.I admired and respected him for his valiant service to our country and his level of involvement before and after the war,I only hope that i can lead a fulfilling and rich life like he did.He will be greatly missed and never forgotten,I am honored to have met him.

Sharon and Family, Well, what can I say about Bud that everyone doesn't already know. Oh, I know - my birthday is the day before Bud's, but not the same year. I also served in the US Air Force - LOVE GOD AND COUNTRY!! And, I make a mean apple pie! :-) He is an all-around good guy, and I know he is kicking up his heels in Heaven! And, he doesn't need wings to fly! YAAAAAAAAAAWHOOOOOOOOOO!! AND - He helped me out when I was in a pickle. (Now, how do you say that in FRENCH??) lol Gonna miss him while I'm walking this Earth! love ya, Sister.........ginny :-)

Sharon, I miss him already. I want to thank you both for allowing me into your home to care for Bud, will always be Mr. Phillips to me. I loved my visits with him, he always made me feel like his friend instead of his nurse. You are both special friends. I am so sorry for your loss.

We met thru a friend, we talked on the phone for a long time; then we met. We became instant friends. We talked and laughed together. You're biggest surprise was that I took the salt shaker off the table. It took you a while and it worked. Now you are at rest no more sickness no more pain. You are free!!

You could be lots of fun..We ate a lot of bologna & chips sandwiches..and watched baseball games & OU games.. We had two handsome wonderful sons. John & Daniel.And they gave us 6 beautiful grandkids..I learn the word of the day from you. and the Capital of Finland is still Helsinki....I still know the right fork to use...Love you Kathy

I will miss you so much Bud. You have been a huge Blessing to my Family through the years we have known you. Sharon we love you so much. My children feel as if you are a part of our family.
