Baxley Benton Ott, Jr.

Baxley Benton Ott, Jr. was born November 23, 1945, in McAlester, OK to Baxley Benton Ott, Sr. and Mary Lou (Anderson) Ott and passed from this life on August 31, 2024, at the age of 78.

He was an honorable Vietnam veteran serving 5 years in the U.S. Army and received multiple medals and 2 bronze stars.  He was also recognized for being a sharpshooter.  He started at the rank of PV2 in July 1968 and ended his military career with a honorable discharge at the rank of E4 in July 1971.  He was known for being a hard worker and loved providing for his family.  He worked for the City of Tulsa water department as a crew leader from 1971 until his retirement in 2002.  He loved working on cars, roller skating and yard work.  He loved to save anything and everything that he thought was important!  His grandkids and great-grans brought him the most joy in life!  He was the BEST husband, dad and papa this world could ask for!

Baxley was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Ruth Ann; his brother, Zappy Ott; and his great grandson, Benton LoneChief.  He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rebecca Pauline (Harris) Ott; his daughters, Shelly Ludlow, Carolyn Ott and Regina Butler; his sister, Rita Kay Packard; his brothers, Clifford Ott, David Ott and Danny Ott; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

Baxley will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5 with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home.  His funeral will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 6 at the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel.  Military rites will be performed at the graveside following.
