Dear Family: Just a note to say again that our thoughts and prayers are with you as you face this very difficult time in your lives. It is never easy to have to tell a loved one goodbye, but I would like to share this little story that the minister shared at my Dad's homecoming service that eased the pain a bit for me. I pray it will make it a little easier for you. He talked about how people go to the airport when their loved one is going on a trip. They hug them and tell them goodbye and watch as they board the plane and then as the plane takes off and disappears into the sky. They watch as long as they can and say, "There they go." It's an exciting time for the person that is traveling, but not as exciting for those who stand watching on the ground. It isn't long though, before the plane reaches its destination and there is another group of people waiting and watching. As the plane comes into full sight, they excitedly say, "Here they come!" That is exactly what happened a few days ago as Ann, (wife, mother, grandmother, cousin, friend) left this earth. You might have said, "She's gone," but as she arrived through the Gates of Heaven, I believe family and friends that have already gone on were standing at the gate waiting for her and waving saying, "Here she comes!" What a beautiful reunion time they are having in a place where there is no more sickness or tears. I cannot begin to tell you what she meant to me. She was my link to Mom's side of the family - a familiar face, a comforting voice that reached out in love as we watched family members one by one say goodbye to this place we call home. We had fun sharing fond memories of Grandma and Grandpa Torrence, Aunt Elcie, Uncle Ebal and Aunt Rose. She was the person I looked forward to seeing whenever we went to Russellville. Even though she was 11 years older than me, she treated me like someone special. Through the years, she continued to do that, though I knew in my heart it was her, not me that was the special one. I will always be grateful for the times we were able to spend together, whether in person or on the phone. It was such a joy to have her come and visit in our home. She touched my life in more ways than I could ever count. And just in case you need to hear it one more time, I want to tell you that she loved each of you dearly and was so proud of you. Your pictures accompanied her anywhere she went. In the event she didn't go anywhere...your pictures arrived through mail or email. She wanted everyone to know you were her family. She will be greatly missed, but we know she is in good hands and we will see her again soon. Please keep in touch and know that anytime you come to Atlanta, you have an open invitation to stay with us. You are family. Much love and prayers to you all. Dave and Martha
