Obituary
Anita Margie (Bailey) Wallace, 98, a retired nurse, died Wednesday, November 26, 2014 in Tulsa, OK. The middle child of three girls of James Robert Bruce Bailey and Mabel Fay (Connelly) Bailey. Anita grew up on a farm during the Great Depression and decided she wanted more out of life than farm living. In 1939, she enrolled in nurse’s training in Hot Springs, AR, graduating in 1941 just before WWII. After graduation, she returned home and married Fred Howard Wallace. She worked in the Pawnee Hospital during WWII while Fred was in the service. After the war, they moved to Tulsa where they had two daughters. She worked at various hospitals in Tulsa, also helping in her daughter’s schools and girl scouting. Anita was a true friend, a faithful Christian, loving wife, mother and grandmother/great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Wallace; 2 sisters, Mildred Duckworth, of Tulsa and Gladys Morgan, of Gentry, AR. She is survived by two daughters, Elaine Harney Williams and her husband, Jim, and Marilyn Brummett of Tulsa; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. We will remember our family matriarch always with loving thoughts. The family would like to thank Clare Bridge Senior Living Solutions and Advantage Hospice for the great care given to Anita. The family will receive friends from 3PM – 5PM Sunday at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home and service 10AM Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel.

I came upon this obituary of Anita. I am sorry for your loss. I looked forward to Cousin Anita notes every year on our genealogy. I moved and lost many addresses. I was just recalling our visit years ago and decided to look her up on the Internet. May God bless her family during this holiday season.

Anita was an amazing woman. The Bailey women were classy sistas! I cannot imagine coming from the poverty they did during the depression. The stories my grandmother (Mildred) told me were some of the most interesting, even when about the depression or life on a farm. Amazing women. I am so thankful to have had them in my life. I never really knew Gladys but Anita ALWAYS made it a point to keep in touch. I cherish the family history book she had published. What a gem that is! The time and attention that took was incredible. When Mildred died I knew it was one of the worst days of Anita's life. Through her tears at the service she told me how much she would miss her. She told us some pretty good stories at the cemetery too. Family was definitely important to her and it showed. I am sorry I couldn't make the service. I wish you all comfort at this time. I know she and Fred are living it up again!! May you all find peace at this difficult time. Love to you all.

My heart is breaking for your loss of your mother. I have very fond memories of Anita from Gilcrease Hill Baptist Church. She was such and awesome Christian lady. I will be thinking of you and lifting you up in prayer as you go through the funeral services and the days beyond

I will best remember my grandmother as a caring, loving person. Always ready to help anyone in need. I'm so thankful to have had her in my life so many years. She will be missed by many. I'm most thankful that she may now rest in peace. And is once again with family in heaven. I'm also thankful that my mother may now have comfort and be able to relax, free from worry. I love you grandma and will miss you.
